تأسس YunoHost منذ عام 2012 وتم تطويره بشكل أساسي بشكل تطوعي و بعيدًا عن القطاع التجاري.
YunoHost is a modest project in terms of the resources it mobilizes - yet an ambitious one, as much for its activism as for its technical and interface design, as well as for the required perseverance to package and maintain the hundreds of applications in our catalog.
If, like us, you'd like to see the project continue to function, evolve to meet its promises, and allow us to take care of the community, this is where you can donate!
I want to give to YunoHost:
Why support YunoHost in 2026?
YunoHost is a non-profit project that advocates a decentralized Internet, with open, interoperable and sober technologies that respect privacy and (re-)empower the greatest number of people and collectives.
Phase 1. Preserving the basics
1.1. Sustain its infrastructure and the team's work dynamics 8,000 €
Donations are used to pay for the infrastructure costs (YunoHost services and task automation) and to allow the team to meet 2 to 3 times a year.
1.2. Facilitate the collective and its projects 12,000 €
Since 2024, a facilitator (known as “stirring officer”) is in charge to take care of the collective both humanly and administratively, as well as in its external relations.
1.3. Maintain the codebase and provide support to the community 12,000 €
This budget will fund code and infrastructure maintenance, as well as time spent doing support or reviewing and integrating contributions from new volunteers.
Phase 2. Boosting development31,000 €
Know more on the main features we plan to develop this year and for which we are seeking funding
2.1. Packaging v3 Funded by NLNet*
New iteration on the packaging features with more declarativeness, robustness and effectiveness.
* This development is funded by NLNet through NGI0.
2.2. Support OIDC Funded by NLNet*
Replace SSOWat Single-Sign On solution with Authelia and support the more standard OpenID Connect authentication protocol, thus broadening the apps' SSO integration potentiali.
2.3. Self-registration feature 10,000 € ➜ 5,000 € 50% funded by Code Lutin
through Copie Publique
Make users able to autonomously register on the server through invite links or a public registering form with admin validation.
2.4. Improve the backup and restore feature 20,000 €
Integrate automatic backup features to YunoHost's core, including remote and encrypted deduplication as well as easy selective restore.
2.5. Initiate implementation of self-hosting federation 6,000 €
With the self-hosting federation concept, we plan to make it easier to connect to a friend instance in order to provide remote services each other.

النفقات
Our expected budget for 2026-2027 reaches 100 000 € and breaks down in 5 categories.
Project expenditure breaks down into the following categories:
- Development: one-off funding awarded to some of the most work-intensive features of the roadmap which require to ensure dedication over the long-term of experienced contributors. It should be noted, however, that this amount is negligible in relation to the voluntary work carried out by the contributors overall - YunoHost remains primarily a volunteer-based project.
- Infrastructure: corresponds to the hosting of the tools used by the project, such as the website, documentation, forum, technical tools, etc. The amount of this expenditure should reduce in 2025 following a migration to a dedicated server from a friendly host provider.
- Events: expenses to enable the team to attend public events (e.g. JdLL) and to meet in the same place at least twice a year to work together on feature design and development strategy.
- Facilitation: financial compensation allocated to administrative tasks, animation and coordination of the collective. This is a new type of expense introduced in 2025, decided by the collective given the need to have a person dedicated to these aspects (a.k.a “stirrer”).
- Fees and other expenses: bank charges or donations made to other collectives that support the project in kind.
المداخيل
YunoHost has been always able to rely on donations to fund its activity, together with occasional grants. Given the increased funding needs for this new season, the team has been looking for ways to lower the financial burden on the community by:
- Applying for grants (with some success this year),
- Trying to partner with civil society organizations through a dedicated project (with a lot of sweat but no financial success for now).
- Starting to develop a professional activity which aims at allowing some core contributors of the project's team to spend more time on the project (some of it being paid by customers).
Here are our expected source of revenues:
- Recurring donations: 2,500 €/month
- One-time donations: ~72,000 € (~6,000 €/month) (grants included: ~42,000 € (3,500 €/month))
- NLNet through NGI0 (OIDC, Packaging v3): ~34,500 €
- Code Lutin through Copie Publique (half of users self-registration): 5,000 €
- Civil Society (in progress) : (~2,500 €)
- Yunohost.pro (in progress): ~ 500 €
Total budget in 2026: ~100,000 € (~8,500 €/month)
To this budget must also be added the also donations in-kind, in particular donations in the form of servers or bandwidth from other non-profit organizations (Globenet, Gitoyen and tetaneutral) as well as independent web companies (Octopuce).
خارطة الطريق وخارطة الأحلام
We're publishing a roadmap here to give a clearer idea of what we plan to develop. It does NOT constitutes a promise because it is dependent on the availability and energies of volunteers. It is therefore subject to change at any time.
